BBR Holdings said yesterday it has won a $104.2 million contract, its first from the Housing and Development Board, to build seven 13-storey blocks comprising 864 homes in Yishun Neighbourhood 4.

Work is set to start next month and completion is scheduled for January 2012. Construction will take place in 10 phases.

The project includes building a childcare centre and a roof garden, electrical substation works, sewerage works, a driveway, communal amenities, site works and contingency works.

'We are excited to be involved in building homes for Singaporeans,' said BBR chief executive Andrew Tan. 'We will do our utmost to ensure delivery of high-quality work on a timely basis and within budget. This win helps consolidate our track record in public sector works.'

Less than a fortnight ago, BBR announced a $77.7 million deal to build the main clubhouse for Singapore Island Country Club (SICC) and for maintenance work on drains and roads. Work is set to start this month and will also be completed in 2012.

Other ongoing projects include a $95.3 million design-and-build contract from Ascendas (Tuas) to construct an office tower at International Business Park in Jurong East, scheduled to finish this month, a $26.4 million contract from the Ministry of Education for expansion and alteration at Jun Yuan Primary School in Tampines, planned for completion by October, and a $189.6 million contract from the Urban Redevelopment Authority to construct a common services tunnel at downtown core, scheduled to be completed by April 2011.

With the latest win, BBR's civil engineering and building order book is $396 million, with projects predominantly in Singapore and Malaysia.
